Green Issues Film Series: "La Source". This documentary is the uplifting story of Josue Lajuenesse, a Haitian janitor at Princeton University, who returns to his home country after the 2010 earthquake. He works to realize his lifelong dream of bringing clean water to his community, the most fundamental need for the survival of the village.

LWVMC Economic Health Committee. All are welcome to join us for lunch, usually at the Country Club, noon on the third Wednesday of the month. Next meeting is August 16. This year we will study a variety of issues affecting life in our community including economic development, liveablility, diversity, the Homestead tax exemption, and many more. We will interview policy makers and others, and committee members will report on the various items. Sheridan Hadley and Cheryl Keim are chairing the committee this year.   Women's Equality Day. is a day proclaimed each year by the United States President to commemorate the granting of the vote to women throughout the United States.

Women in the US were granted the right to vote without the compulsory requirement to submit to possible conscription on August 26, 1920, when the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was certified as law. The amendment was first introduced many years earlier in 1878. Every president has published a proclamation for Women's Equality Day since 1972.

Green Issues Film Series: "Jumbo Wild". This documentary film highlights the tension between the protection of wilderness and ever-increasing development interests in wild places, bringing to life the passionate fight to protect British Columbia's Jumbo Valley. Professor Stephen Cunha (Humboldt SU, CA) ststes, "The balanced portrayal of strongly held and divergent viewpoints will grip your intellect and your emotions -- a pinnacle of environmental reporting." Jumbo Glacier and Jumbo Mountain are located in the Purcell Range of the Columbia Mountains, SE British Columbia.
